Drawing a Maserati GranTurismo : A step by step illustration
- Choose the picture to be drawn (Image courtesy : autocarwiki.com)
- Select the starting point of the drawing. Lets start from the roof and side window panels. To get a perfect copy of the image, try to scale it down. Use a ruler, pencil to scale down, as per your convenience.
- Draw the windshield. Again, scale down the drawing in accordance with the original image.
- Add definition to the side window panel
- Draw the rear end and the back wheel. Scale down the wheel , so that it is of similar size as that of the original image. Draw the lower body, while keeping it scaled down to the original image.
- Draw the outline of the front wheel and mudflap. Again keep the size scaled to original image
- Draw the outline of front wheel and the hood. Pay attention to the size. This portion will actually define the face of your car. So use a proper scale.
- Draw the headlamps and the grill. The sizes must be scaled down as much as possible to the original image. These are like the eyes and the nose of a human face. So these will define how your car looks.
- Add definition to the grill and the bonnet
- Draw the doors, front indicators. Start adding definitions to the wheels. Draw the rims. Use a reference point for drawing the spokes. Notice that I have selected a circle to serve as a reference point in the front wheel
- Draw the rims for the front wheel. Add definitions to the headlamps.
- Start shading. Begin from the wheels.
- Shade the seats and the grill. Use a darker tone. I have used 2B and 4B pencils. These give darker tones.
- Finally shade the remaining body. Use a light and moderate dark shade. I used an F pencil for light shading and a HB pencil for the moderate dark shades. Once done, this is how your final drawing will look like:
